Year End Retrieval Plan

Dear Families,

A quick reminder that the last day of instruction is Monday, June 21st, 2021. On Wednesday, June 23rd and Thursday, June 24th families will be welcome to come and retrieve the remainder of their child's items at school and drop off items that belong to the school (eg. library/classroom books etc.) Pick up will happen OUTSIDE at designated times & areas of the school yard. Please see THE RETRIEVAL PLAN to help you with your planning. If these times don’t work for your family, please know that you can pick up items by coming to the front office at any convenient time on Wednesday (23rd) or Thursday (24th).

With the year coming to a close, it is also necessary for us to retrieve our chromebooks. All students (virtual & in-person) are required to return borrowed devices anytime starting Monday, June 21st to Thursday, June 24th. For tracking purposes, it is best that you return the device directly to the office, NOT your child’s teacher. We are asking for your support in that the device is cleaned with a lightly moistened cloth or lysol wipe. If possible, please return the device charged and ensure you also return the power supply cord. If the device has any issues, please indicate them on a note gently taped to the chromebook cover (eg. damaged screen, keyboard not functioning properly, touchpad not working, not holding a charge etc.). All chromebooks will be serviced during the summer months to ensure we’re ready for September.

Lost and Found Items will also be on display outside close to the parking lot or at the front of the school from June 22 to 24th. Please be sure to have a PEEK!

As always the staff look forward to seeing their students in-person even if it's just for a short period of time.

LAST Day of Instruction - June 21st

Dear Families:

In consultation with Superintendents, OPH and other Ottawa school boards, the OCSB has deemed the last day of instruction for all classes in K-12 (both virtual, in-person and all special education students) to be Monday, June 21, 2021. This means that no synchronous nor asynchronous teaching or learning will occur on June 22, 23 or 24. This is for ALL students who attend an OCSB school (virtual or in-person).

This decision was made in order to allow staff an opportunity to to gather student work for year-end retrieval and wish each of their students a wonderful summer. Formal instruction will end on Monday, June 21st and Divine Infant will arrange times throughout the days of June 22, 23 and 24 for students to retrieve the remainder of their school items and work, return library books, chromebooks, and other supplies to their school as well as allow staff to wish their students a safe and happy summer.

During this time, staff will be at the school and will be following all OPH guidelines to allow for students to be in the school (or outside) at scheduled times again, for the purpose of year-end retrieval and return of items. Parents and guardians will unfortunately not be permitted to enter the school but will be asked to wait outside for their children. A more specific plan for pick-up of items will be communicated to you mid next week.

The Gr 6 Leave Taking will still take place virtually on Monday, June 21st @ 10am as originally communicated. Again, specific details will be shared with Gr 6 parents/guardians early next week.

Staff will need to be involved in the collection of devices along with packing up and for some moving rooms/buildings. Thus the last day of instruction will officially be Monday, June 21st.

The news came to principals late last night, hence communication to the community today.

OSTA - Important information for September 2021

Please see OSTA - Important Info for Sept 2021 that contains information regarding your child's transportation for the new school year. There are deadlines embedded as early as May 30th, so please be sure to read the MEMO carefully.

St. Matthew HS - Uniform Information (Grade 7)

Please see the updated Top Marks uniform flyer for St Matthew High School attached below. All information regarding sizing, purchasing, and shipping can be found on the form or the Top Marks website. The deadline for submitting orders is June 30th, 2021. This will ensure items are delivered before the start of the school year.

Our NU2U, gently used uniform shop will not be offering regular sale hours due to Ottawa Public Health guidelines for schools. If you are in need of used uniforms, please email matthew.high@ocsb.ca and your child's vice principal will assist you. Please understand we often have a low number of common sizes. We do hope to have our NU2U shop up and running in the new year.

Tiger Hoodies will also be sold in Fall 2021 through our Phys-Ed department. We do not sell hoodies or school clothing on any other website, and these items will not be accepted as school uniform attire. If you are unsure, please contact the school to avoid purchasing a non-uniform item. We often have extra hoodies for sale, once the fall order has been received.

St Matthew Rugby shirts will also be sold from Top Marks as a special order in the new year. This is a new uniform item, and we will notify parents when this item will be available for purchase.
